[SGMP] October Meeting

Hi Members and Friends:

We hope that you and your family, friends, and colleagues are safe and sound after the devastating impacts of Hurricane Ian on our state. So many were impacted. At next week’s meeting, we plan to spend some time hearing from you on how Ian impacted you and your network, as well as gain any insight any of you may have on impacted properties and events. No doubt many favorite venues must undergo repair and renovation. From there, we will be facilitating a discussion on event cancellation, force majeure, impossibility and similar clauses in contracts and processes for cancelling or rescheduling events due to circumstances beyond our control. We will have some example clauses to discuss and probably more than a few stories. Come share you own with us!

We will be meeting in person at Gabrielle Consulting here in Tallahassee (3035 Eliza Road). Those who are out of town or unable to make it from work or other obligations, feel free to attend online (see below)! We plan to continue hybrid meetings for a while given the number of members in other areas. For those who can make it in person, come have a glass of wine with us as we unwind and share our experiences.

Looking forward…

November 15 – We are planning another hybrid meeting, this time we hope to hear from one or more Convention and Visitor Bureaus about how to utilize their services and make a significant impact on your meetings! We’re in the process of lining up speakers, so if you’re interested (or know a CVB contact who would be), let us know! Presenters will be able to give a spotlight about their local properties and offerings.

December – We plan to have an in-person holiday social in early December. Exact date TBD, but look for that information in the coming weeks!

January 17 – How to incorporate volunteer and community service into your meetings and events! We’re working on speakers, but if you have experience or know someone, let me know. Presenters will be able to highlight their organization(s)!
