Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
There has never been a more important time to embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This session goes beyond awareness to explore ways that participants can use emotional intelligence and humility to create a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming environment within and outside your organization. Participants will develop strategies to improve DEI efforts as well as examine the consequences of not doing so.

Be the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  *   Define and differentiate the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
  *   Explain how DEI benefits teams and organizations.
  *   Discuss the importance of leadership characteristics needed for effective DEI efforts.
  *   Critically examine their own personal beliefs, attitudes, and biases about historically marginalized people and cultures.
  *   Describe the negative impacts of people in leadership positions who do not adopt an inclusive mentality.
  *   Develop an action plan for improvement.

Dr. Gabrielle K. Gabrielli, CGMP is passionate about the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She earned a certificate in DEI in the Workplace from USF, and she is an active member on several DEI committees including Society of Government Meeting Professionals (national) and Florida Society of Association Executives (statewide).

I hope that March is going well for all of you. I know many of us have starting doing more and more in person events this year. Several Florida cities are absolutely buzzing with meetings and convention business, and it's so great to see! We are continuing to have virtual meetings for the chapter. Check out the information about this month's meeting below. We hope you can make it!

If you have any ideas or suggestions for the chapter, or wish to present a topic at a future meeting, let me know!
